Former White Sox Pitcher Hector Santiago will be appearing at Bridges Scoreboard Monday May 21st from 7-9pm. Doors open at 4pm. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards Griffith Youth Baseball.

Our next board meeting is May 20th at 5pm following Diamond Kings Skills Camp. We will be voting for All Star Managers at this meeting.

Anyone interested in managing must submit their name to Scot Davenport.  Managers for the older divisions will be picked based on the by-laws (manager picked based on place of last years standings).

We are having our annual Diamond Kings Day Baseball Camp Sunday May 20th. $25 per child. Lunch is provided. Please turn your money into your coach or pay at the concession stand. The  camp will be held at the major and minor fields.

WHAT:
Diamond Kings instructors will lead Griffith
players through drills in hitting, fielding, base running,
pitching, throwing mechanics
and more.

COST:
$25 per player GYB is picking up $10 of this cost. $15 registration fee.

The Grasshoppers vs. PawSox game will be made up Friday at 5:30pm on the minor field.

Parents We Need YOUR Help

Parents, Grandparents, friends – when we think back to our own youth when we played baseball or softball, it was fun to be able to learn the “Great American Past-time”.  One of your own very pleasant memories was after the game, getting your treat ticket and running as fast as you could to get your snow cone or your hot dog and coke and being able to enjoy it while watching your friend’s game which played after yours.  Now that you are adults, watching your own kids learn this great game, we just assume that they will be able to play it as well as be able to run to get their treats just as you did years ago. Or on those cold days, you have that ability to get that hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate.  Did you ever stop to think who runs the concession stands?  Believe it or not, the concession stands would not be able to function without the help and generosity of the Parents and families of our youth.  At this time, I am asking you for your help.

***We are in DESPERATE need of parent volunteers***

Without parents volunteering their time for just one or two nights (approximately 2 hours per night) within the season, we would not be able to offer you or your children the convenience of treats throughout the baseball season.  As it stands right now, we are having a very hard time meeting the needs of the stand.  We have around 4 days in the week where games are played where we need a minimum of just 2 parents per shift to help greet the children and get them the treats they most desperately desire.  At this time, we don’t have enough volunteers to help with the stands.  Given we have over 300 children in the league, if each of you just takes your turn for one or two games each, that would be MORE THAN ENOUGH help to keep us running.  And to think, we’ll still reimburse you your “CONCESSION STAND FEE” of $20 after your second shift is completed.  We want to be able to keep the concession stand open. Without adequate volunteers, we will have no choice but to close the concession stands.  Not because of a lack of sales, but rather a lack of adequate help.

Due to scheduling and player attendance issues, the Babe Ruth season will not be starting May 5th but May 16th. Your coach will get schedules to you when they are ready as we are revamping the season schedule to accommodate this change.
